Fine Tune Entertainments

About Us

Sally Thompson created Fine Tune Entertainments after she had gained several years experience as a professional cellist freelancing with various string quartets and other ensembles.

Sally studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music from 1996 to 2000 and during this time she focused on chamber music, particularly string quartets and was a finalist in the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Prize. Sally received regular coaching from David Angel (Magginni Quartet) and John Todd (Coull Quartet) as well as short courses from Michael Bochmann (Bochmann Quartet) and from the Allegri Quartet.

With an interest in all genres Sally also performed with the Mid-Wales Opera Festival Orchestra and was principle cellist in the Conservatoire Composers’ Ensembles.

Since gaining a bachelor of Music with Honours Sally has worked across the country with numerous orchestras and ensembles that include The New English Concert Orchestra, The Queens Park Sinfonia, backing musician for Russell Watson and, of course, with string quartets performing for private functions and recitals.

Fine Tune Entertainments originally specialised in providing string quartets and other string ensembles, yet due to increasing demand from clients, in 2004, Fine Tune expanded it’s selection of music to encompass a wider range of musical styles. All musicians are highly experienced professionals that Sally has personally selected to ensure a polished and enjoyable performance.

The strength of Fine Tune Entertainments lies in Sally’s knowledge of music and her experience in performing at a wide range of events. Couple this with Sally’s friendly and personal approach and you will receive an informed service from your initial enquiry and throughout the booking process culminating in a performance which adds an atmosphere to your event that you and your guests will always remember.
